About Embassy of Japan in Uganda

The Embassy of Japan in Uganda, located in the Nakasero diplomatic area of Kampala, serves as Japan’s official diplomatic mission in the country. It provides a wide range of services, including visa processing for tourism, business, study, and work, passport services for Japanese nationals, document legalization, and emergency assistance. The Embassy also plays a key role in promoting cultural exchange, development cooperation, and bilateral relations between Japan and Uganda. Open Monday through Friday, it operates standard office hours for general inquiries and specific hours for visa appointments. The mission is a central point for both Japanese citizens in Uganda and Ugandans seeking engagement with Japan, ensuring smooth diplomatic, consular, and cultural interactions.

Job Description

Commencement date of appointment: 1 April,2026

 

Probation period: 3(Three) to 6(Six) months

 

Working style: Full-time

 

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 17:15 (Lunch break:12:30-13:30)

Monthly Salary (determined based on experience and ability)

 

Holidays (Saturdays, Sundays, and Embassy closed days, 21 days a year (2026))

 

Overtime and travel allowances available

 

After the probational period, paid off and health insurance are available 

Responsibilities

  • Transporting embassy staff and guests to and from their destinations
  • Managing and cleaning official cars and motorcycles properly
  • Handling and delivering official luggage and cargo at the airport
  • Driving when embassy staff go on official trips outside the city
  • Responding to other requests/tasks by supervisor and other staff

Requirements

  • Having a valid driver’s license and a motorcycle license
  • Complying with the traffic laws and regulations for safe driving
  • Having knowledge of vehicle maintenance, maps and roads
  • Communication skill in English
  • Capacity to overtime work and official trips outside the city if needed
