Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and diligent Accountant to join our hospitality team in Kampala. This role is essential for maintaining the financial health of our hotel. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all financial operations, from daily transactions and reporting to payroll, compliance, and strategic financial advice.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and consolidate financial statements, management reports, and budgets for the hotel.
  • Monitor daily revenue, expenses, and cash flows, ensuring accurate reconciliations.
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly variance analysis to support decision-making.
  • Process supplier invoices, staff claims, and ensure timely payments.
  • Monitor receivables and follow up to minimize outstanding balances.
  • Maintain proper records of creditors and debtors for the hotel.
  • Prepare monthly payroll and statutory deductions (NSSF, PAYE and other applicable taxes).
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations, audits, and internal financial policies.
  • Maintain proper documentation for statutory and external audits.
  • Implement and monitor internal control systems to prevent fraud and errors.
  • Conduct periodic stock counts (food, beverages, and consumables) and reconcile with records.
  • Support digitalization of accounting and reporting systems.
  • Advise hotel management on cost-saving opportunities and financial performance trends.
  • Assist in financial planning, cash flow projections, and investment analysis.
  • Provide financial insights to guide operational and strategic decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field with at least CPA Level 2.
  • Minimum 3 years of accounting experience including in the hospitality industry.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Tally etc).
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • High integrity, confidentiality.
