Job Description

The Manager API and B2B Payments will be responsible for scaling MTN MoMo’s API ecosystem and building a structured, revenue-driven B2B payments business use cases.

Responsibilities

  • Own and execute the MoMo API growth strategy, aligned to Payments, Enterprise, and MTN Group priorities.
  • Develop and manage the API product roadmap, prioritizing high impact use cases across C2B, B2C, and B2B.
  • Drive increased API adoption, transaction volumes, revenues, and active partners.
  • Evangelize API capabilities internally and externally to position MoMo as a platform of choice.
  • Build and scale the B2B payments portfolio, including collections, disbursements, bulk payments, and enterprise integrations.
  • Identify priority B2B verticals (FMCG, utilities, transport, education, government, NGOs, payroll, marketplaces).
  • Define commercial models, pricing, and value propositions for B2B customers and aggregators.
  • Own B2B pipeline development from ideation to revenue realization.
  • Redesign and optimize partner onboarding journeys (technical, commercial, legal, and operational).
  • Reduce time-to-integrate and improve partner activation and retention.
  • Work closely with Technology local and group teams to ensure APIs are well-documented, stable, and scalable aligned with best-practice developer experiences.
  • Drive continuous improvement in partner support, SLA management, and issue resolution.
  • Lead solutioning partner guidance on API integrations, solution design, and third-party connectivity.
  • Act as the business bridge between Product, Technology, Security, and Partners.
  • Guide solution architecture discussions without being a hands-on developer.
  • Define and track API and B2B KPIs:
  • Active partners
  • API call volumes
  • Transaction success rates
  • Revenue by partner / vertical
  • Time-to-onboard
  • Deliver regular insights and performance reports to MoMo Leadership and MTN Group.
  • Use data to drive prioritization, investment decisions, and continuous optimization.
  • Ensure all API and B2B initiatives comply with regulatory, security, and risk frameworks.
  • Work with Legal, Compliance, and Risk teams to structure compliant contracts and partnerships.
  • Support audits, certifications, and regulatory engagements related to APIs and B2B services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Finance, Business)strong technology, digital led API products exposure is required 
  • A master’s degree or equivalent is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years total experience, 2-3 years in APIs, platform products, payments, fintech, or enterprise solutions.
  • API-led product or platform growth.
  • B2B or enterprise payments/business development.
  • Partner ecosystem management (aggregators, PSPs, developers, enterprises)
  • System integrations and platform enablement.
  • Commercial negotiations and partner contracting
  • Experience in telecoms, fintech, banking, or large digital platforms is highly preferred
