Uganda Registration Services Bureau(URSB) is the institution mandated under cap 217 Laws of Uganda to deliver a number of registration services that aim at facilitating and enabling the private sector growth in order to create a better investment climate.
The Department of Business Registration (DBR) is Charged with a number of activities including Name Search & Reservations, New Company incorporation, Business names registration, Registration of legal instruments and other documents, Company related documents and Collateral securities such as chattels, mortgages & debentures, Certifications, and searches.
Job Description
Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) is seeking a Systems Administrator to administer, maintain, secure, and optimize URSB’s ICT infrastructure by managing servers, operating systems, storage, virtualization, and enterprise systems, ensuring high availability, reliability, performance, and security of ICT services.
Responsibilities
Install, configure, maintain, and support server hardware and operating systems (Windows/Linux/UNIX).
Monitor system performance, availability, capacity, and resource utilization, and take proactive corrective action.
Diagnose and resolve system faults, outages, and performance issues to ensure service continuity.
Implement system updates, patches, upgrades, and lifecycle management processes.
Manage and support virtualization platforms, storage systems, and enterprise infrastructure.
Implement and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
Enforce ICT security policies, access controls, system hardening, and compliance requirements.
Assess ICT infrastructure needs and recommend appropriate hardware, software, and system configurations.
Ensure proper use, servicing, and maintenance of ICT hardware and infrastructure assets.
Provide technical support and training to staff, including onboarding new users.
Document system configurations, procedures, incidents, and technical processes.
Perform any other duties assigned by the Senior Systems Administrator.
Requirements
An Honours degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems or a related discipline from a recognised institution
Professional certifications in Microsoft, Linux/UNIX, or enterprise platforms (e.g., MCSA/MCSE, RHCSA/RHCE, HP-UX CSA or equivalent) are desirable
System administration for Windows Server and Linux/UNIX environments
Virtualization technologies and storage systems
Backup and disaster recovery solutions
System monitoring and performance management tools
Networking fundamentals and ICT security best practices
Enterprise infrastructure technologies and emerging ICT trends
Ability to plan, configure, and document complex system environments
Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and respond effectively to urgent incidents
Strong communication and technical reporting skills
Ability to collaborate with ICT teams and business stakeholders
High level of professionalism, accountability, and attention to detail
