BRAC started microfinance in Uganda in 2006, as a part of BRAC Uganda’s social development programmes. It transformed into a Tier II Credit Institution i.e. BRAC Uganda Bank Ltd in 2019. BRAC Uganda Bank Ltd has the largest branch network (footprint) in the country, providing inclusive financial services to low-income communities predominantly women and a girl child who live in rural and hard-to-reach communities to enable them to build sustainable livelihoods. Our core credit products include a group-based microloan provided exclusively to women, and small enterprise loans for entrepreneurs seeking to expand their businesses. We also offer three types of savings products: Flex Save, a transactional account for borrowers and mid-to-low-income households; Wise Save, for formal and informal entrepreneurs, and salary-earners who wish to accumulate savings for a specific purpose; and Safe Save, for community-based savings and credit groups.

Job Description

BRAC Uganda is seeking a Human Resource Business Partner to drive the achievement of business and overall bank’s objectives through the implementation of Human resource strategies, policies and practices. In partnership with the Heads of Departments, Divisional Manages and line supervisors, HRBP provides consultancy services to enable delivery of best practices and HR focused solutions to BRAC Uganda Bank Ltd. This position serves as a liaison between the business lines and HR to ensure fulfilment of human resources needs such as recruitment, performance management, compensation, career development, Talent Management, Grievance Handling among others. 

Responsibilities

  • Manpower Planning: Analysis of resource gaps, maintaining of required head count, Recruitment, Induction, career and succession planning, Probationary, Leave and exit management.

  • Organisational Design and Change Management: Monitor the appropriate use of various types of employee contracts and staff resources, of change initiatives, drive and deliver HR initiatives to support business, work in partnership with operational management teams to identify areas and opportunities for improvement.

  • Learning and development management: Training needs assessments, career conversations, Talent management.

  • Performance Management: instill performance culture, coordinate performance appraisals, manage feedback process, PIP management.

  • Employee Relations: Interpret policies and procedures, attend to employee grievances and complaints, ensure workplace harmony).

  • Read, understand, practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.

  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.

  • Support other roles within HR as need be including operational issues e.g. payroll

Requirements

  • Human Resources management, Business Administration, Management, Economics or related field.

  • Post Graduate Degree in Human Resource Management is an added advantage.

  • At least 3 years as an HR Generalist, Business Partner, Employee Relations, or Change Management or Team Development role.

  • Ability to identify, diagnose and provide solutions to staff challenges

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Ability to translate business plans and goals into human resources capabilities needed to achieve results

  • Excellent Communication skills

  • Influencing and negotiation skills

  • Ability to function in a fast paced and innovative environment
