About Uganda Wildlife Authority

Uganda Wildlife Authority, (UWA) manages 10 National Parks; 12 Wildlife reserves; 5 Community Wildlife Management Areas; and 13 Wildlife Sanctuaries. The ten National Parks include Queen Elizabeth, Lake Mburo, Murchison Falls, Kidepo Valley, Kibale, Mount Elgon, Rwenzori Mountains, Semuliki, Mgahinga Gorilla, and Bwindi Impenetrable National Parks. These parks display the best in East Africa. Job Description

Uganda Wildlife Authority is seeking to recruit Rangers to protect wildlife resources, property and human life in the Protected Area of deployment.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting patrols/ Operations to protect wildlife resources in and around the protected Areas.
  • Detecting and proactively preventing wildlife crime.
  • Arresting, searching and supporting prosecution of suspects involved in illegal Wildlife activities
  • Providing security to wildlife resources, property, staff and visitors within the protected Areas.
  • Collecting and recording field data for Management decision making
  • Supporting problem animal control
  • Supporting the rescue, capture and translocation of wildlife
  • Operating radios and disseminating information to relevant personnel.
  • Gathering and relaying intelligence to relevant personnel.
  • Monitoring protected area boundaries and deter encroachment.
  • Undertaking wildlife inventories and surveys.
  • Preparing and submitting operational reports

Requirements

  • Uganda Certificate of Education with at least a pass in English Language.
