Job Description

To support the bank’s market risk management framework by collaborating with business and control functions to implement governance, policies, limits, and analytics, monitor trading and treasury activities, and provide reporting and advisory insights that ensure alignment with the Board-approved risk appetite.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks

  • Ensure adherence to the Market Risk Management Framework, Capital and Liquidity Risk Management Framework, Stress Testing Framework, Risk Appetite Framework, supporting policies, and standards.
  • Conduct daily investigations on Fx spot, bonds and derivatives inventory and resolution of risk valuation exceptions.
  • Review completeness and accuracy daily market risk sensitivity metrices, including NOP, DVaR and Tail analysis.
  • Implement and maintain new controls as required by local regulations, Group policies, or projects.
  • Provide expert advice to business units to optimize risk profiles and support informed trading or hedging decisions.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of key positions, market risk drivers, and emerging issues relevant to the sales and trading desks.
  • Conduct value-add analyses and risk assessments to inform management actions, business decisions, and strategic initiatives.
  • Participate in the risk evaluation of new products, structured products, and significant business changes.
  • Monitor daily exposures against predefined limits and escalate breaches according to policy.
  • Prepare accurate, timely, and actionable reports with insightful commentary highlighting key risks, trends, and changes.
  • Contribute quantitative and qualitative inputs for daily, weekly, monthly, and ad hoc reporting cycles.
  • Develop reporting frameworks for new business initiatives.
  • Collaborate proactively with Front Office and control teams to discuss market strategy, risk exposures, and key developments.
  • Build and sustain strong internal and external relationships to enhance operational efficiency and cross-functional synergy.
  • Manage business expectations while ensuring alignment with risk policies and governance standards.

Requirements, Qualifications and Competences

  • Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Risk Management or Accounting and Finance from an accredited University
  • Master’s Degree in Business / Financial Services is an added advantage
  • ACI Dealing certificate / CFA / FRM designation is preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in Market Risk or Trading or Treasury or Product Control preferably within a banking or financial services environment.
  • Good understanding of Market Risk concepts and metrics (VaR, EVE/NII, scenario analysis, risk sensitivities), and governance frameworks
  • Good understanding of the regulatory and control environment
  • In-depth understanding of local and group jurisdictions and regulatory requirements for financial institutions.
  • Strong knowledge of banking products, services, functional areas and interlinked processes.
  • Expertise in planning, executing, and evaluating risk assessments and control activities.
  • Awareness of market trends, competitor practices, and industry dynamics.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written communication)
  • Strong ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple audits and competing deadlines efficiently.
  • Excellent comprehension skills to understand and interpret financial data and economic trends.
  • Highly numeric/strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Bachelor`s Degrees and Advanced Diplomas: Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)
