The Uganda National Bureau of Standards is a government agency, established by an Act of Parliament of Uganda, UNBS is under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Co-operatives established by the UNBS Act Cap 327 and became operational in 1989.

Job Description

UNBS seeks to offer Graduate Internship placement opportunities to Fresh Graduates (3 years and Below since Graduation) for 1 year starting October 2025 to September 2026 as part of its corporate social responsibility to support fresh graduates attain experience, skills and exposure in the work world.

Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Heads of Divisions, the main purpose of the placement is to provide standardisation activities to UNBS stakeholders. The role will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Develop, implement, and enforce National Standards as guided by the UNBS Act, regulations, and procedures. The incumbent will also provide technical and scientific input in the planning and operations of UNBS standardization programmes.
  • Furthermore, the role requires undertaking stakeholder analysis and incorporating their requirements into the work programme in consultation with the supervisor. Preparing and submitting monthly, quarterly, and annual reports is also a key duty.
  • Finally, the position will carry out any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor or management.

Requirements

  • Candidates must possess an Honours Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Food Science, Food Technology, Engineering, or any other science-related qualification from a recognized university or institution. Applicants are required to be computer literate, with proficient skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet applications. The eligible age for applicants is between 22 and 30 years. The successful candidate must be a team player and an excellent communicator with strong oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Regarding eligibility, the applicant must be a fresh graduate, having completed their studies not more than three years prior to this advertisement. Assessment and selection will be dependent on available vacancies. Applicants must fit within the specified qualifications, express a willingness to undertake assignments given by the supervisor, and be willing to abide by the guidelines set out in the UNBS Human Resource Procedures and Policies Manual.
